Dr. Beth Kania-Gosche named a UM System faculty Presidential Engagement Fellow

Teacher Education and Certification department chair and professor, Dr. Beth Kania-Gosche, is one of three Missouri S&T faculty who will serve as University of Missouri System Presidential Engagement Fellows during this academic year and share their expertise and research discoveries with Missouri citizens.

Thuraia Ibrahim has been appointed to the Missouri Advisory Board for Educator Preparation (MABEP) as a student advisor.

Dr. Mary Gillis pens chapter in Healing Power of Leadership book

Assistant professor of teacher education and certification, Dr. Mary Gillis, wrote chapter "Student Academic Engagement in Virtual Learning During Mandated School Closures" in book titled Healing Power of Leadership: Lessons from the Coronavirus Lockdown.

Four TEC faculty complete national certification for effective teaching

Mary Gillis, Beth Kania-Gosche, Amanda Meek, and Michelle Schwartze participated in an entire year of training to enhance their classroom and online practices. Through this training they received national certification for effective teaching through the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE). The program was facilitated by the Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence and was part of a systemwide initiative and national grant through the National Association of System Heads.

Misty Fulliam Wins Staff Excellence Award

Teacher Education and Certification staff member, Misty Fulliam, was one of 12 winners of the 2021 Staff Excellence Awards hosted by Staff Council.
Teacher Education and Certification recognized at Faculty Excellence Awards

Dr. Michelle Schwartze was awarded the Experiential Learning award and the Faculty Teaching award. Dr. Mary Gillis, Julia Alexander, and Dr. Schwartze also received outstanding teaching awards.
